1/24 - 2/4 Update
3/22 - 4/5 Update
Post Spring Break Major Iteration Goals
I will ensure that I can show a real time, live map of all aircraft being detected from the ADS-B receiver so I can show people a live picture of what the receiver does as they walk around and see showcase projects.
Continue working with admin and identify what resources I have and can use to collect data regarding this project.
Use data collected either from project at school (if approved and possible) or data from my own personal receiver to draw a conclusion based on the hypothesis and criteria of success.
Avoid procrastinating on deadlines and ensure I keep updating this page to add more process updates. Do not forget to do these!
Work plan:
Week of 4/8 - Continue trying to work with admin to get approval and learn how I can do this. Get all software and equipment ready.
Week of 4/15 - Assuming it is approved, install all software and begin measuring data.
Week of 4/22 - Use data to draw a conclusion and visualize the data. Update RPP.
Week of 4/29 - Finalize RPP, Presentation, Digital Portfolio, and all other cleanup tasks as required.
4/5 - 4/19 Update
This period was the final amount of time I had allotted to myself to gain approval for the project. Unfortunately, I did not get a response and determined that the research project was no longer feasible at the time. This means that I had to quickly shift my thinking and research to get something out of it. I did a little bit of testing my own receiver as well as reading more information from prior research to make a practical but estimated guess on how the different factors I spoke about would affect the receiver.
4/19 - 5/5
After determining the project was no longer feasible and conducting some final research, I began to focus on my final product, specifically my final research product poster, which showcases all of the work I had done. I made sure to design it with ease of reading in mind, as well as including plenty of interesting information, and a visualization from my own ADS-B receiver, to help make it more attractive and provide the reader with all of the details of my project. While I was not able to accomplish everything I had hoped, I learned a lot from this project.
